DRC Chat – Hanging out with the Ohio State MOOC Team

0

As part of our ongoing conversation here at the DRC about digital composition and online teaching, I talked with the Ohio State Rhetorical Writing II MOOC Team via Google Hangouts on Air. Joined by Professors Cynthia Selfe, Scott Lloyd DeWitt, Ben McCorkle, Kay Halasek, Susan Delagrange and PhD students Chad Iwertz and Mike Blancato, we discussed their reflections on MOOCs after successfully running the second iteration of their Rhetorical Writing II MOOC class. The team touches upon the challenges of responding to such a massive class of writers, surprising demographic information about MOOC participants, and the ways that their face to face teaching and their online teaching cross-inform one another.

Note that the video directs you to join us for a Twitter Chat on Wednesday. The chat has been rescheduled for next Thursday, December 17th at 8:00pm. Continue the conversation about online teaching with the @SweetlandDRC via twitter. #DRCchat
